Peter Hosie Carpets began over 50 years ago as a one man business supplying and fitting carpets in and around his local area of Edinburgh.  At the time wall to wall carpet could be produced from Narrow loom widths which were sewn together making it an alternative to the more expensive wide loom carpets.  As wider loom carpets became more common, making fitted carpets more affordable to everyone, the market grew. 

 

Corresponding with this growth Peter’s reputation as a fitter grew and he took on more private work.  Eventually his son, also called Peter, joined the business as a partner and together they expanded the business, establishing their first customer showroom and outlet Edinburgh's Gilmour Place. 

 

In line with the property boom that Edinburgh was experiencing the company quickly had to establish a larger outlet closer to its key customers.  It was then that they moved to Comiston Road in the capitals' up market Morningside area.  From here the company established itself with local clientele as a superior supplier and fitter of quality flooring.

 

Over the last 20 years the growth of the building industry in the UK has mirrored the growth experienced by Peter Hosie Carpets.  The company now operates from a large warehouse in the centre of Edinburgh.  Not only does this provide a great showroom for the many types of flooring available to us it also enables us to carry a wide variety of stock.  Making it possible for us to supply and fit many products directly to you from the warehouse.

 

In 2008 Peter Hosie Carpets Ltd. was acquired by Stewart Campbell.  At the age of 15 Stewart began his apprenticeship with the company, learning his trade directly from Peter.  He continued to work his way up through the company before becoming a partner.

 

Today, as Managing Director, Stewart believes values he learned then are still at the core of the business today, “Our customer’s are as varied as the products we carry.  We work with most of the UK’s major house builders, interior designers, commercial properties and of course private residences.  At Peter Hosie Carpets we take pride in all the work we do and like to think that the reputation established by Peter senior in the 1950’s is still intact today.”
